There Are Channels Besides Adult Swim?

’Bred Alerts, 01.21.06 - 01.27.06

Imminent arrivals (all times Pacific; actually recommended things highlighted like this*):

TV

The Boondocks * (Adult Swim, Sat. 01.21, 11 p.m.) A repeat of last week’s "Return of the King," another high point from a show that tops itself, and most everything else on TV, on a weekly basis. Special kudos to voice-acting veteran Kevin Michael Richardson for his dignified yet hilarious performance as MLK.

Moral Orel (Adult Swim, Sun. night 01.22, midnight) Adult Swim previewed this as a Christmas special, which had its moments but didn’t match the hype, and didn’t warrant all the repeats. Maybe the series will score higher.

"Boo Boo Runs Wild" * (Adult Swim, Sun. night 01.22, 1 a.m.) Speaking of Adult Swim and over-repeating: this lost, one-off chunk of John "Ren & Stimpy" Kricfalusi weirdness is running in this time slot for the third straight week. If you haven’t seen it, you should catch it. So that AS will run something else here.

24 * (Fox, Mon 01.23, 9 p.m.) Just one hour this week, folks. We’ll all have to cope somehow.

Movies

Annapolis (in theaters Fri. 01.27) Spider-man’s pal is taking this revenge thing way too seriously.

Nanny McPhee (in theaters Fri. 01.27) All the annoyance of movies about criminally large families plus all the pretentiousness of a period piece!

Sakes Alive (Previous entry)
Poison-tipped Spear (Next entry)

  • So why is 24 recommended this week as opposed to last week?

Sharp eye there. The change was intentional. Explanatory post forthcoming, probably after the next episode.

  • Annapolis - The producers are betting most folks in their target audience have never seen An Officer and a Gentleman. I’m thinking that’s a safe bet.
